This emergency telephone line service from the Quebec Poultry Disease Control Team (EQCMA) is intended only for commercial poultry producers in Quebec.
When to call?
For any health problems of your birds, consult your veterinarian first.
If he informs you of a suspicion or confirmation of the presence of one of the following diseases:
or one of the four reportable diseases in Canada:
Please contact the EQCMA immediately by dialing 1 88-VOLAILLE (1 888 652-4553).
How it works?
A service agent is available 7 days a week and 24 hours a day. Be prepared to provide the following information:
- your name and telephone number (residence and/or cell phone) or that of another person who can be easily reached;
- physical address of the farm;
- type of production.
The service agent will contact an EQCMA emergency management officer who will call you back as soon as possible. If, for any reason, we do not get back to you within a reasonable time, please contact a representative of your provincial federation or union.
As soon as a notifiable disease is suspected
- the producer or his employee must immediately contact a practicing veterinarian;
- the producer or practicing veterinary surgeon must immediately notify the CFIA and the provincial marketing office or the
EQCMA (1 88-VOLAILLE) ;
The practicing veterinary surgeon and the laboratory are required to report any reportable disease to the CFIA and the MAPAQ.
