Avian influenza cases update for 2024

ECQMA is informing producers and all industry stakeholders of the avian influenza situation for 2024 in Quebec, Canada and the United States.

For 2024, CFIA has notified a total of 7 infected sites in Quebec (28 sites for 2023), commercial and non-commercial sites of various types of poultry, for a total of 73,877 dead or euthanized birds due to the disease (567,049 birds for 2023).

In Canada, there have been 95 new cases of avian influenza in the other provinces. Of these cases, 76 were reported in British Columbia, representing 74% of cases in 2024.
